Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a broad-spectrum light treatment that targets both redness and pigmentation to improve overall skin tone and texture. It is sometimes called a “photofacial” or “photorejuvenation.” At DermLab, IPL may be recommended by a Dermatologist after a skin assessment, or you may book directly with our Laser Nurse Specialist, who will assess suitability and deliver the majority of treatments.
How It Works
Consultation – A Dermatologist may recommend IPL, or you can book directly with our Laser Nurse Specialist
Treatment – Broad-spectrum pulses of light are applied to the skin, targeting pigment and blood vessels simultaneously
Recovery – Dark spots may temporarily darken before fading; redness usually settles in 1–3 days
What It Improves
Rosacea-related redness
Facial veins and flushing
Early signs of ageing (dullness, blotchiness)
What to Expect
Procedure time – 20–40 minutes
Recovery – mild redness for 1–3 days; pigmentation may form a “coffee ground” appearance for 5–7 days before fading
Results – clearer, brighter, more even-toned skin
Sessions – most patients require 3–5 treatments for best outcomes
