Vascular Laser

Vascular laser treatment targets unwanted blood vessels in the skin using focused light energy. The laser specifically targets red pigment in the blood, heating the vessel until it collapses and is naturally absorbed by the body. At DermLab, a Dermatologist may recommend vascular laser as part of your care plan, or you may book directly with our Laser Nurse Specialist, who will assess suitability and deliver the majority of treatments.

How It Works

  1. Consultation – A Dermatologist may recommend vascular laser, or you can book directly with our Laser Nurse Specialist for assessment

  2. Treatment – Laser light is directed at the targeted blood vessels. Patients often describe the sensation as a mild snap, similar to a rubber band

  3. Recovery – Treated vessels gradually fade over days to weeks. Mild redness or swelling usually settles within a few days

What it improves

  • Fine facial veins (telangiectasia)

  • Broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks

  • Rosacea-related redness

  • Generalised facial flushing

  • Redness from sun damage

  • Certain vascular birthmarks (e.g., port-wine stains, haemangiomas)

What to Expect

  • Procedure time – 15–45 minutes depending on the number of vessels treated

  • Recovery – temporary redness or swelling for 1–3 days; makeup can usually be worn the next day

  • Results – clearer skin with reduced redness and visible veins

  • Sessions – many patients see results after 1 treatment, though 2–3 may be needed for optimal outcomes
