Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a quick, effective procedure that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy abnormal skin cells. It is one of the most common treatments offered by Dermatologists worldwide. At DermLab, cryotherapy is performed by specialist Dermatologists who ensure that the treatment is accurate, effective, and tailored to the type of lesion being treated.
Why It’s Used
Cryotherapy is commonly used to treat:
Precancerous sun spots (actinic keratoses)
Viral warts (hands, feet, and other sites)
Seborrhoeic keratoses (harmless “age spots”)
Certain small, superficial skin cancers (in selected cases)
How It Works
Application – Liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the skin spot, either by a spray or cotton-tipped applicator.
Freezing – The extreme cold destroys abnormal cells.
Healing – Over the next 1–2 weeks, the treated area blisters, crusts, and peels away, revealing fresh skin underneath.
What to Expect
Quick procedure – usually just a few seconds per spot
Mild discomfort – feels like a brief sting or burn during treatment
Temporary redness or blistering – a normal part of healing
Minimal downtime – most patients return to normal activities immediately
